Baked with Love in the Apple Capital of Georgia
Nestled in the heart of Ellijay—just 90 miles north of Atlanta at the start of the Appalachian Trail—our little bakery was born from a love of apples and a passion for fresh, homemade bread.
Where It All Began
Over 30 years ago, the original owners saw a simple but delicious need: apple bread. Not just any bread, but moist, fragrant loaves packed with real apples, warm spices, and that homemade goodness you can taste in every bite. What started as one family recipe quickly turned into a local tradition shared by generations.
More Than Just a Loaf
Today, we’re proud to offer more than our signature apple bread. From our traditional plain sourdough, jalapeño cheddar and peach loaves to name a few—fermented slowly for deep flavor and perfect chew—to our irresistible Apple Cider Donuts, made from scratch, fried in house and bursting with cozy fall spices, everything we make is crafted with care and plenty of heart.
Whether it's a slice of apple bread with your morning coffee, a toasted piece of sourdough for your sandwich, or a warm apple cider donut on a crisp autumn day, we believe in simple pleasures made the right way.
Thank You for Rising With Us
Thanks to you, our loyal customers and fellow bread lovers, our ovens are still going strong. You’ve shared our bread at your tables, brought our donuts to your gatherings, and helped spread the word one loaf at a time. We wouldn’t be here without you.
Here’s to the love of apples. The comfort of fresh bread. And the joy of sharing both.
Handcrafted, Heart-Baked
At Our Daily Bread, we offer a variety of sourdough breads, each one handcrafted with care. Every loaf is hand-kneaded—no machines here—which means no two are exactly alike. Just like home baking should be. We use real fruits and the finest ingredients because great bread starts with great flavor.
Savor the Season with Apple Cider Doughnuts
We also make handcrafted Apple Cider Doughnuts, dusted with just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar. Made with local apple cider, these soft, cake-style doughnuts are a cozy fall favorite, especially with a hot cup of coffee on a crisp morning.

One of the most asked questions is how to freeze our bread and doughnuts. If you follow these simple steps, it will keep your purchase fresh for months.
* Place bread in a freezer ziplock bag, remove all air and seal tight. Leave the bread in its original packaging. Ready to eat? Leave frozen bread out 8-10 hours before use.
* Need to freeze those doughnuts? Place in a freezer ziplock bag and freeze. Ready to eat? Let doughnuts thaw an hour or so. Place in the microwave to warm them up if desired!
Customer Tips: Preslice bread and place loaf back together before freezing, then double bag. Pull by the slice instead of the whole loaf!
